Explicación

Usamos el comparativo para comparar dos personas o cosas y el superlativo para destacar una dentro de un grupo.

  • My room is smaller than yours.
  • It is the smallest room in the house.

Formas principales

Tipo de adjetivo Comparativo Superlativo
Una sílaba small → smaller the smallest
Terminado en -e nice → nicer the nicest
Algunos cortos con consonante final big → bigger the biggest
Consonante + -y happy → happier the happiest
Adjetivos largos more expensive the most expensive

Con muchos adjetivos de dos sílabas usamos more / most. Algunos, como quiet, admiten dos formas: quieter / more quiet y the quietest / the most quiet.

Comparativo con than

Usamos than para introducir el segundo elemento.

  • This sofa is more comfortable than that chair.
  • My bag is lighter than yours.

No combinamos more con -er: more useful, no more usefuller.

Superlativo con the

Normalmente ponemos the antes del superlativo. Con un lugar o grupo, es frecuente usar in; con una cantidad, of.

  • Mina is the youngest student in our class.
  • This is the cheapest of the four tickets.

Irregulares

Adjetivo Comparativo Superlativo

bad worse the worst

Truco: compara dos con than y destaca uno del grupo con the: bigger than my desk, pero the biggest desk in the office.
