No lleva comas.

  • The passengers who had electronic tickets used the side entrance. (solo esos pasajeros)
  • The folder that you deleted contained the invoices.

  • Our pilot, who had flown this route before, recognised the valley.
  • The replacement pump, which arrived this morning, is already leaking.

Referencia Especificativa Explicativa
Persona who / that; whom como objeto formal who; whom como objeto formal
Cosa which / that which
Posesión whose + sustantivo whose + sustantivo
Lugar where / preposición + which where / preposición + which

The report (which) I submitted was incomplete. El sujeto de submitted ya es I.

Si es sujeto, debe aparecer: The report which arrived was incomplete. No podemos quitar which porque no quedaría sujeto para arrived.

Preposiciones y significado

  • Conversación: the person who I spoke to; también the person I spoke to.
  • Registro formal: the person to whom I spoke.
  • Lugar: the office where I work = the office in which I work.

Where no sustituye a un objeto directo: the office which we bought, porque compramos la oficina; no realizamos allí otra acción.

They extended the deadline, which helped everyone. What no se usa como relativo detrás de un antecedente: the document that I need.
