Forma: will have been + -ing
| Tipo | Estructura | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | sujeto + will have been + -ing | They will have been travelling for a week. |
| Negativa | sujeto + won’t have been + -ing | She won’t have been working here for long. |
| Pregunta | Will + sujeto + have been + -ing? | Will you have been waiting long? |
La cadena will + have + been no cambia con el sujeto.
- By October, I will have been studying marine biology for three years.
- When the relief team arrives, we will have been working for eighteen hours.
Un punto futuro y un periodo anterior
By presenta el límite o punto de referencia; for introduce una duración y since, su comienzo.
- By six, we will have been rehearsing for four hours.
- By six, we will have been rehearsing since two.
Esta forma no garantiza que una tarea esté completada: By Monday, we will have been repairing the roof for a week no asegura que el tejado esté terminado.
Contraste con otros futuros
| Forma | Enfoque | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| future continuous | Actividad en curso en un momento futuro | At five, I’ll be checking the equipment. |
| future perfect simple | Resultado completado antes de un punto futuro | By five, I’ll have checked all ten devices. |
By five, I’ll have been checking devices for hours. |
Con algunas actividades, el perfecto simple y el continuo son posibles: By June, she will have worked / will have been working here for ten years.
Estados y subordinadas temporales
Los verbos de estado normalmente no usan la continua: By August, we will have owned the house for a decade, no will have been owning.
Tras when, by the time, before o until, una subordinada temporal suele usar presente aunque hable del futuro: By the time he arrives, we’ll have been waiting for two hours. La oración principal sí contiene will.
Truco: distingue will be working (estará trabajando) de will have been working (llevará un tiempo trabajando).
